Dieter Zarnitz Lute-Sitar #3 (1989)

back

Neck & body of Dieter´s third lute-style sitar is made from maple. The tabli (soundboard) is spruce, pegs are ebony, headstock & decorations from rosewood.

This is the only sitar from Dieter Zarnitz that I set up completely to my preferences for this recording: the main bridge is an old Hiren Roy horn-bridge and the bass-strings are not the flatwounds that Dieter prefered but traditional bronce-wires. In the photographs you can see the original setup of Dieter with elforyn bridges and flatwound bass-strings. Kharaj-Pancham with thirteen taraf-strings.
